Charlie Jones is the father of Coraline Jones and the husband of Mel Jones. He is the inspiration for the Other Father in the Other World and is voiced by John Hodgman.
Appearance[]
Charlie is a middle-aged man with a lanky body. He has short, messy brown hair and stubble. Charlie's eyes are also brown, and he wears brown-rimmed glasses on his large, beaky nose.
Personality[]
Like his wife, Charlie spends more time working than being with his daughter. Despite this, he truly loves Coraline, as can be seen when he puts her to bed, and later plays with her toys to make her smile.
Biography[]
Charlie works as a gardening catelogue writer. He wishes that he could find more time to play with Coraline, but is too overwhelmed with the demands of his job to do so. Charlie is also the family cook, although he is terrible at it.
When Coraline successfully escapes from the Other World, the Other Mother kidnaps and imprisons Charlie and Mel inside a snowglobe in the Other World. They briefly contact Coraline through their hallway mirror, asking her to help them. She is able to best the Other Mother's game and free both parents, though they have no memory of the events. At the end of the film, the two complete their catalog, and host a garden party, with the implication that they will spend more time with Coraline. after his wife's death.
