Moongirl is a 2005 CGI short. It was the first film produced by LAIKA, and their only short released to date. The short was written and directed by Henry Selick, and features a score by American rock band They Might be Giants.

Plot[]

Young boy Leon fishes at night when the Moon goes dark. He is magically transported to the Moon, meets Moongirl, and helps her try to fix the astronomical body.

Cast[]

Production[]

Moongirl was conceived during a contest Laika held for short film ideas; the winner was CG modeler Michael Berger, who thought up the idea of a girl who controls the Moon. Henry Selick was hired to develop this concept[1].
